Hi, I’m Bel Deliá and I play the role of Natasha Warner in The Tunnel. We had such an enjoyable time working together as a cast on such an incredible shoot, that I thought it might be fun, in the spirit of the role I played as a journalist, to interview my fellow cast – ‘the boys’. We wanted to give you a look into what it was like on set & some of our most memorable moments.

So I asked each of them about some of their fondest memories… enjoy!

James Cailtin plays Trevor Jones

B: The team on this movie seemed to be able to have fun constantly, even in trying moments. I remember after a trying 8 hour long audio ADR recording session in the sound booth when trying my best to making average strangulation sounds, I looked at Carlo, Carlo looked at me & I said: “why don’t you get in here & strangle me. He happily obliged! Do you have any funny stories from your time on the film?
J: For me it
was working out a way to let Enzo Tedeschi know that I had broken two ribs while filming Trev’s scene. It’s funny because even I didn’t know I had done it until two days later!

B: What about the scares? Any of those moments on set?
J: The most frightening moment for me during filming was reliving Trev’s horrific memories of what he saw in the tunnels.

B: I think the cast and crew would all agree that all in all we had a good time around a wonderful crew on an inspiring film adventure. What’s your fondest recollection?
J: My fondest memory is thinking back and realising, from day one, that I was surrounded by dedicated and committed people, all professionals in their fields. That I was part of something very, very exciting.

I loved, loved, loved working with Steve, from day one we had each others backs and Steve really helped myself and the guys achieve one of the most important things – a believable news team.

B: So Steve, greatest moments on set?
S: For me the most enjoyable moments during the underground shoot, were the scenes where the ‘STALKER’ was chasing us through the tight Tunnels… it was exhausting doing take after take but I found it exhilarating …. from memory when Carlo called “Cut” we were all pumped but still managed a laugh.

B: Most frightening moment?
S: I think the scene where I was most in the moment and therefore the most frightening was when we were all hiding watching the security guard and stalker in the lake …. during the film that moment is heavy and I definitely felt it at the time.

B: That was a very eerie moment! Now, your first acting gig, I know you’ve got the bug, I mean I had to race you to the make up chair each morning! Tell me of your fondest memory on set.
S: My fondest memory was not one single moment but the feeling at the end of each filming day of excitement among the cast and crew ….. we knew we had done something good, Director and producers were stoked and that filtered through everyone involved. It was also enjoyable personally for all the encouragement I got from the other actors and Director helping me get through my first acting role….. amazing experience … I loved it!

A Brief Message from The Director

by on Nov.08, 2010, under Behind The Scenes, Cast and Crew, Press

Director Carlo Ledesma on the set of 'The Tunnel'

Director Carlo Ledesma on the set of 'The Tunnel'

Hi everyone,

Carlo here. First off, I’d just like to say thank you for all the overwhelming support you guys have given us over the past few months. It’s been very encouraging to see a lot of people get behind our crazy little experiment and each digital frame purchased just fuels us even more (quite literally: it helps pay for our coffee).

Publicity, merchandise, and open letters aside, we are quite aware that we do have a film to finish, and I’m pleased to report we are nearly there. A few weeks ago we filmed the interview sequences which were shot by my good friend Shing Fung Cheung, who’s been my DOP collaborator on the last three films I’ve done. He, alongside another good friend Inaki de Ubago lit the scenes beautifully, using bits of glass and wood to add subtle foreground textures to the frame.

Enzo and Jules have now taken all the footage into their edit suites and are whipping up a rough cut as we speak. Having looked at an assembly prior to shooting the interview scenes, I’d say we’ve got about 90% in the can, with a couple more key pickups to be filmed. The one I am excited about the most is coming up soon. Without giving too much away, it involves a large body of water, one soaking wet actress, and me either donning some SCUBA gear or holding my breath for extended periods of time.

Because I was in crazy-busy demon monkey director mode during principal photography I didn’t have much time to take photos but below are a few snaps I managed to take of some cast and crew. Shot on film, cos I’m old school like that.
